Atlee Pomerene became Lieutenant Governor of Ohio after graduating from the University of Cincinnati Law School. Pomerene was appointed by President Calvin Coolidge to serve as a special prosecutor in the Teapot Dome scandal. The investigation revealed that Secretary of the Interior Albert B. Fall had accepted a $100,000 bribe to lease to private oil interests without competitive bidding, naval oil reserve lands in Wyoming and California. This interesting check was acquired by Waldo C. Moore, one of the earliest autograph check collectors. An Atlee Pomerene autograph is a bold memento of political reform. This reproduction would look great in an album or display.
