Babe Ruth and his story are profiled in Money Secrets of the Rich and Famous.  This check is part of baseball lore known as The Curse of the Bambino! On December 26, 1919 the New York Yankees purchased the contract of Boston Red Sox star George Herman “Babe” Ruth. The Yankees agreed to buy Ruth for $100,000. Jacob Ruppert (Yankees owner and President) and T.L. Huston (co-owner of the Yankees) gave Harry Frazee (owner of the Boston Red Sox) $25,000 in cash and three promissory notes for $25,000 each. The notes were at 6 percent. This is one of the three promissory notes (or checks) made payable to “The Boston American League Baseball Club, January 3, 1922.” The amount of the note has been adjusted from $25,000 to $25,500, to include the agreed upon “interest at 6%.” For the next 86 years the Boston Red Sox would not win a world series until 2004, in what became known the "Curse of Babe Ruth." Please note: Our image file is of low-resolution (compressed file of 386,000 kbs), hence the low price.  This Babe Ruth autograph check reproduction would look great in an album or display.
