Ben Blue was formerly known as Benjamin Bernstein. Blue's introduction to professional comedy was first instituted when he toured as a drummer with Jack White and the Montrealers. Blue wore a fake beard and cracked jokes. The band became one of the first to appear in early Hollywood musicals: Vitaphone and King of Jazz. Blue became a standup comedian and starred in the Taxi Boys. In 1950, Blue had a television series, The Ben Blue Show, that lasted for one season. Blue also made frequent guest appearances on The Frank Sinatra Show and The Jack Benny Program. In the 1960s, Blue opened a club in Santa Monica, California, that was known as "Ben Blue's" that became a hang out for the Hollywood elite.
