Charles Faulkner served as a United States Minister to France and was once considered a traitor for negotiating arms sales for the Confederacy while serving in Paris. He negotiated his release for Alfred Ely, a New York Congressman, who had been taken prisoner during the battle of Bull Run. During the Civil War Faulkner served as Chief of Staff for General Stonewall Jackson. A Charles Faulkner autograph is a wonderful memento of the Civil War.
