A check from the Chicago & West Michigan Railway Company that was probably issued to an employee of the railroad.  This check could only be redeeemed at eighteen banks listed on the front of the check.  This company operated between 1881 and 1899 before merging with other railroad companies.  This is an interesting financial document that makes a great conversational display.
