Fidelity Insurance Trust & Safe Deposit was incorporated on March 22, 1866..  This financial institition became Fidelity-Philadelphia Trust Company, then First Fidelity, and then First Union.  In 2001, First Union merged with Wachovia to form the new Wachovia Corporation.
