First National Bank of Douglas.  Interesting check made out for sicty pesos + that has been converted and paid in the amount of $31.00.  The First National Bank of Douglas (6633) charter number 6633 in Douglas, Arizona in Cochise county was granted a charter in 1903.  The bank issued 5 types of notes.  The city of Douglas had numerous Hispanic workers who lived in a neaby town called Pirtleville. While Douglas became an incoporated city in 1905, Pirtleville has been and is still unincorporated.  The first Hispanic governor in Arizona, Raul Castro, grew up in Pirtleville and graduated from Douglas High School.  For many years access to Douglas from Mexico was unlimited since there was no fence or other type of barrier along the border.

This First National Bank of Douglas check reproduction would look great in a display.
