George Eastman was an esteemed American inventor and industrialist.  Eastman perfected the process for making photographic dry plates and flexible film which he patented in 1844. He invented  the term Kodak and served as treasurer and general manager of the Eastman Kodak Company.  Eastman became extremely wealthy and gave generously to educational and cultural philanthropies.  Eastman founded the Eastman School of Music in Rochester.
