Patriot of the Revolutionary War.  Meade signed the 1765 Non-Importation Resolutions and managed postwar prisons in Philadelphia.  He was instrumental for obtaining funds to support colonial troops at Valley Forge.  Meade was an original member of the Society of the Friendly Sons of St Patrick.
