Hamilton Bee served in early Texas politics as the Texas Speaker of the House of Representatives and as secretary for a commission that determined the border betwen Texas and the United States.  Sam Houston appointed Bee and two other leaders to negotiate the Treaty of Tehuacana Creek with the Comanches.  At the onset of the American Civil war Bee was appointed as a brigadier general in the Confederate Army.  Bee fought at the Battle of Pleasant Hill where two horses were shot from under him.  After the war he resided in San Antonio, Texas.  The town of Beeville and the county of Bee are named after his father, Hamilton Ellliott Bee Sr., who was a leader in the Texas Revolution.  Hamilton Bee should not be confused with Bernard Elliott Bee, another Confederate General, best-known describing T.J. Jackson as a stone wall at the First Battle of Manassas.  Our Republic of Treasury warrant image that shows a Hamilton Bee autograph as Comptroller is a wonderful addition to any collection of Civil War memorabilia.

This reproduction would look great in an album or display.
