James Hinkle was elected by popular vote as the sixth Governor of New Mexico. Hinkle signed this check while serving as Chairman of the Lincoln County Commissioners while New Mexico was a Territory of the United States, a position that he held from 1891 to 1893. Hinkle also served in the New Mexico Territorial House of Representatives from 1893 to 1896, and as mayor of the city of Roswell from 1904 to 1906. Hinkle's term as Governor of New Mexico was from January 1, 1923 to January 1, 1925. Hinkle passed away in the same town where he served as major. Hinkle wrote Early Days of a Cowboy on the Pecos, a book that details his experience in the Old West.. This James Hinkle autograph check reproduction would make a nice addition to any collection of political autographs.
