James Madison was a towering political figure desite being the shortest and lightest of all U.S. presidents (he was 5 feet 4 inches tall and 100 pounds). He was given the title Father of the Constitution for his role in composing most of the document. His description account of the proceedings that formulated the United State Constutution is the most extensive and accurate eyewitness account of this pivitol event in American history. Madison's Last Will directed that his notes on the Constitutional Convention - the only reliable account of the proceedings - be sold. They were purchased by Congress for a scant $30,000.
