Founder of Mother's Day, officially proclaimed by Woodrow Wilson on May 9, 1914. From 1907 through 1914 Jarvis waged a hard-fought campaign that culminated in the recognition of Mother's Day. Jarvis detested the commercialization of Mother's Day by the general public and came to regret her holiday creation.
