Kazys Bizauskas wrote this check while serving as a minister for Lithuania. This check was written only nine months after the Lithuanian Legation house (Embassy) was first opened. Bizauskas was the third diplomatic envoy to the United States from Lithuania, but the first to serve having an official Embassy location. He served in this capacity from 1923-1927. In 1924, Bizauskas was responsible for the purchase of the Lithanian legation house (Embassy) in Washington, D.C. The Lithuanian legation house is still being used today as the Embassy for Lithuania. This check represents one of the rarer checks written at the beginning of Lithuania's diplomatic relationship with the United States.. Bizauskas was one of the twenty signatories of the Act of Independence of Lithuania. He was captured by Nazis in 1941 and disappeared. He was thought to have been killed near a prisoner concentration camp near Minsk, Russia.
This Kazys Bizauskas autograph reproduction is a wonderful addition to an album or a framed display.
