Linus R. "Lonny" Frey was a star baseball player for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri. Frey's baseball career began in 1932 with the "Honeydews" in the Carolina League. He was recruited by the Brooklyn Dodges and played in the 1939, 1941, and 1943 All-Star games. Frey also played in three World Series games with the Cincinnato Reds in 1939 and 1940. In 1961 he was inducted into the Cincinnati Reds Baseball Hall of Fame. Frey was the last surviving baseball player to play for the prime New York teams: Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Giants and New York Yankees.
