Martha Batista was the First Lady of Cuba as second wife of dictator Fulgencio Batista. Martha served as Cuba's Matron of Arts and convinced her husband to build a National Gallery in Cuba.  Martha and his husband fled Cuba in 1959 when Fidel Castro gained power.
