Mary Harlan Lincoln was the son of Abraham Lincoln's first-born son, Robert Lincoln. Mary Harlan Lincoln met Robert while Abraham Lincoln was still in the White House. Mary Harlan was the daughter of Iowa Senator James Harlan, a close advisor, supporter, and friend of Abraham Lincoln. Mary Harlan and Robert Lincoln became married in 1866 at Senator Harlan's home. Mary Harlan Lincoln was very good friends with Mrs. Benjamin Harrison, under whom Robert served as Minister to Great Britain. Robert and Mary remained together for the remainder of their lives and are interred together at Arlingtopn National Cemetery.
