Michael F. Warchol served as an essential member of the team that developed the detontator for the first atomic bomb.  He developed instruments that triggered the atomic bomb from a distance of ten miles.  The first atomic bomb was detonated in New Mexico on July 16, 1945.  Warchol devoted the rest of his life to developing nuclear technology.
