It is fitting for one of America's classic writers, Nathaniel Hawthorne, to habe been born on the fourth of July. Despite an unsuccessful first novel, Hawthorne continued his craft while earning a living at a Boston Custom House as an agent and then as surveyor. After leaving this position Hawthorne devoted himself to his most famous novel, "The Scarlet Letter." Hawthorne continued his writing while working as the consul in Liverpool. Hawthorne wrote this check while living in The Wayside home in Concord, Massachusetts where he worked on his final masterpiece, "Our Old Home." This reproduction would look great in an album or display.
