Peter Augustus Jay was the son of Supreme Court Justice John Jay. He helped establish the New York State savings bank system and arrange for financing of the Erie Canal.  Peter Jay helped found the oldest librrary in New York City, and served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of King's College, predecessor of Columbia University.   Peter Jay autograph images represent fine historical documents.
