Image of bank check written and signed by Union Brevet General Roy Stone who was severely wounded while commanding a brigade at Gettysburg on July 1, 1863. Stone successfully held back several charges of Confederate forces on McPherson's Ridge, while leading a brigade of men who had not previously seen combat.  Stone Avenue in Gettysburg National Military Park is named for him.  Late in the war, he commanded the Alton Military Prison in Illinois.  This check image is dated July 7, 1901 and is made out to author John Gilmer Speed.  Autograph images of Roy Stone are coveted by Civil War buffs.

This reproduction would look great in an album or display.
