Thomas Hart Benton, also known as "Old Bullion," supported President Andrew Jackson against the Bank of the United States. He was one of the subjects of John Kennedy's Pulitzer Prize winning book, "Profiles in Courage," because of his opposition to slavery in the new Western territories.  Thomas Benton autograph mementos are wonderful conversation pieces.
