Victor Herbert was a renowned American composer of Irish heritage who organized and conducted his own orchestra in New York.  Herbert was a prolific composer of operrettas that played on Broadway and many compositions for symphony orchestras.  His most famous composition is Babes in Toyland that was featured in the movie of the same name starring Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.  For a period of time Herbert lived and worked in Europe where he played symphony cello with orchestras in Vienna, Austria, and Stuttgart, Germany.  He moved back to America where he and his wife Theresa Forster, an opera vocalist, became affiliated with the Metropolitan Opera in New York City.  Herbert served as conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony before founding the Victor Herbert Orchestra.  This Victor Herbert autograph is a wonderful example of his signature. This reproduction would look great in an album or display.
