William Seward was a cofounder of the Republican party, Seward was thought to have been reckless and foolish when he negotiated to buy Alaska from Russia. Although many criticised his achievement as "Seward's Folly," it was really Seward who got the last laugh. This check was drawn on a Washington, D.C. bank when Seward served as Secretary of State under president Abraham Lincoln. It is made out to A. H. Seward. William Seward autograph images are wonderful mementos. This reproduction would look great in an album or display.
